02Highlights

Four things that set this rug apart

01

Silk yarn

On the surface: Silk, Natural. Writing the yarn onto the spec sheet is saying in advance how the rug will age.

02

Classic pattern layout

Classic pattern. The ground and the motif are not parts of separate processes but of the same weave; the two advance together. The ground tone is white, cream.

03

China work

This rug is woven in China. We write down where it comes from, because we want to be able to name the workshop when someone asks.

04

Professional cleaning

Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. What wears a rug down over the years is not a stain but the dust that settles at the base of the pile and grinds the fibers from inside with every step.

Cream and Burgundy Oushak-Pattern Hand-Knotted Silk Rug — product specifications

The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

05

The story of this rug

A burgundy Seljuk star sits at the middle of this cream silk rug, with gold-yellow spreading out around it and turquoise picked out in the smaller motifs. Hand-knotted in China in 100% silk, 167 × 241 cm (5'6" × 7'11"), in the Oushak tradition of western Anatolia.

01Comes from from Anatolia

A single example. The eight-pointed star is one of the constants of Anatolian art, and it is used here the way a jewel is used in a setting: one dark, saturated form holding a field that would otherwise float.

02Which tone on the ground

Gold-yellow runs out from it across the cream in thin, sunlit strokes. The turquoise appears only in small quantities, which is how that color has always been used in Anatolian work — enough to cool the reds, never enough to compete with them.

03At the loom in in Anatolia

Every step changes the sheen, so the star looks lit from one side of the room and inked from the other. All silk, tied by hand in China over a long production. A silk pile of this fineness is soft and fluid rather than springy: it lies down under a foot and comes back slowly, which is one of the ways a silk rug is identified by touch alone. The Oushak repertoire it draws on comes from the weaving towns of western Anatolia, where the pattern family has been in use since the sixteenth century.

04To make it last

Day to day it needs no more than a vacuum. Everything past that goes to a professional washer. 100% silk, hand-knotted in China over a long production. Cream ground with gold-yellow spreading from a burgundy Seljuk star. Turquoise used sparingly through the smaller motifs. Oushak drawing, from the weaving towns of western Anatolia. 167 × 241 cm (5'6" × 7'11") — the middle of a salon, or a large bedroom. Soft and fluid underfoot rather than springy, as a silk pile is. Vacuum for daily care; a professional wash for anything more. A single piece. The star is the part that will still be legible in fifty years, long after anyone has stopped noticing the gold.

07

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

08

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

09

Frequently asked

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
