01Which tone on the ground

One piece. Brown with cream is the oldest Oushak pairing and the least demanding of a room: the drawing stays legible without contrast doing the work, so the rug sits under furniture instead of arguing with it.

02At the loom in in Uşak

The motifs are the classical Uşak vocabulary — branching vine, open forms, a border that repeats without quite repeating — and at 162 × 239 cm they are drawn at a size that survives a table standing in the middle of them. Çınar Halı weaves the Harem series, and the construction is why the house files it under rare: the Gördes knot, symmetrical, tied over two warps, at a density that takes far longer to work than the alternative.

03What the yarn is

Silk runs through the pile alongside the wool and does what silk does, holding light where wool absorbs it. Rugs of this weaving class are harder to source every year, which is a statement about supply rather than a sales line.
