The story of this rug

A circle 196 cm across (6'5"): this is a round handwoven rug from the Hümayun Series, with a central medallion drawn in modern blues over Anatolian and Middle Eastern motifs, wool on the surface and cotton beneath it.

01The mark of slow weaving

The relief in the pattern is cut by hand with shears. Woven in India for Halıcızade, and there is one. A medallion is the oldest way of organizing a rug and the only one that makes sense in a circle, since everything radiates from the center and nothing has to resolve in a corner.

02Reading the motif

The blues are contemporary rather than historical — mid-tone, slightly gray, closer to denim than to indigo — and they carry motifs whose lineage runs back through Anatolia into the Middle East.

03What Wool does

Bamboo viscose appears in the drawing alone, so the motifs keep a faint sheen while the wool ground around them stays matt. The base is cotton and the face is wool, tied at a knot density high enough for the pattern to hold a curve.

04At the loom in in India

After weaving, a carver works over the motifs with shears and cuts the pile back around them, which is the step that gives the design its depth in a photograph and its shadow in a room. This series is made in India for this house and is not sold under another name. A circle of this diameter needs floor around it; pushed against a wall it will look like a mistake.

05What the yarn is

Have a professional wash it. 196 × 196 cm (6'5" × 6'5"), a true circle. Handwoven in India, exclusive to Halıcızade. Wool surface on a cotton base, with bamboo viscose in the motifs. Anatolian and Middle Eastern motifs arranged around a central medallion. Blues in modern, slightly gray tones rather than historical indigo. The pattern is carved into relief with shears after weaving. Best in an entrance hall, a study, or a room it can occupy the middle of. Professional washing.

06When you walk in

A single piece. Put a round table on it and it turns into furniture; leave it bare and it turns into the floor plan.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
