Every knot in this rug is tied by hand; instead of the exact repetition of a machine loom you get the slight differences the hand leaves behind. No two areas come out the same.

01From the hand of the weaver

One of one. Kula sits in Manisa province, toward the west of Anatolia, and the word has been attached to knotted rugs long enough that it now names a type as much as a place. What the name promises is wool, hand knotting, and a drawing that belongs to the countryside rather than to a court workshop.

02Color, by the light

Cream as a ground is the version of that drawing which enters a modern room without argument: the figures still read, they read quietly, and the color they carry is all the color the rug needs. Wool throughout, tied by hand.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.
