The story of this rug

The series is named after marble — mermer on a Turkish label — and this one draws straight from a cut slab. Gray Abstract Machine-Woven Viscose Rug, Mermer Series: an abstract gray field veined like stone, acrylic with a heavy viscose content, machine-woven in Türkiye, and it stretches 200 × 300 cm (6'7" × 9'10"). Marble is veined rather than patterned, and that distinction is useful on a floor.

01Which furniture, which room

Veining has no repeat, no center and no correct orientation, so the rug can be turned whichever way a room needs and will still look deliberate. Gray keeps the whole thing quiet. What the viscose contributes is a shine on the lighter passages that the darker ones do not have, so the field separates into layers under a lamp and flattens back out in daylight. 02What the yarn is

The pile is acrylic carrying a high proportion of viscose — the Turkish name for the quality, yoğun viskonlu, says exactly that — and the house declares the blend instead of leaving it at "soft". Acrylic carries the wear and viscose carries the light, and neither would do the other's job alone. Pressure marks show on the shining passages and brush out again. Professional washing. At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.
