A 245 cm circle in cream, silk lifting the flowers

A square meter tied by hand takes weeks, and that time is written into the surface. The pattern gathers itself row by row.
On a silk surface the pile direction sets how dark the color reads; turning the rug a hundred and eighty degrees gives you a new ground. A turn, not a move.
Classic pattern. The motif is built while the rug is woven; there is no layer printed on afterward. There is cream in the ground.
This rug is woven in Türkiye. Where a rug is from is read in its knot and its yarn more than in its pattern; that is why the place on the spec sheet matters.
The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.
A 245 cm circle in cream, silk lifting the flowers
Round, 245 cm across (8'0"), and drawn that way from the first row — a knotted rug cannot be cut to a curve afterward without unmaking its edges. Cream Floral Handwoven Wool and Silk Round Rug, Pera Series: a classical floral on a cream field, wool with silk run through it, made in Türkiye.
There is one of it. A circle changes what a floral pattern has to do. On a rectangle the drawing can march in registers toward a border; on a round rug it has to resolve outward from the middle in every direction at once, and each motif that reaches the edge meets it at a different angle.
Cream keeps all of that calm. Where the silk runs, the pattern takes light differently than the wool next to it does, so the flowers brighten from one side of the room and sink back from the other as you move around them. Handwoven in Türkiye, wool for the body of the pile and silk for the passages that need to lift.
Six square meters of circle is a room-defining object rather than a floor covering: it wants to sit under a round table or in the center of a square hall, and it will look wrong pushed against a wall.
Two things are worth knowing before it arrives — silk loses its brightness under long direct sun, and pale cream keeps no record of anything except what has been spilled on it. Washing goes to a specialist in silk-blend pile, and there is no domestic equivalent. Handwoven in Türkiye; wool pile carrying silk through the drawing. 245 cm across (8'0"), a true circle, close to six square meters. Classical floral drawing resolving outward from the center. Silk passages change brightness as you walk around the rug. Best under a round table or centered in a square room, not pushed to a wall. Long direct sun dulls the silk before it touches the wool. Washing by a specialist in silk-blend pile only. A single piece. A circle sets the geometry of everything placed on it, so the furniture ends up arranged around the rug rather than the other way about.
The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:
At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.
Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380
It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.
Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340
Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.
Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340
Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.
Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490
Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.
Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.
Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.
At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.
