The story of this rug

Woven by craftswomen in workshops across Türkiye, to a design commissioned from Studio Potato and given the name Pink Divison. It is a handwoven wool kilim, geometric, pink running through a multicolor field, and the piece still held is 200 × 300 cm, six feet seven by nine feet ten. No two come out the same. A kilim has no pile. Weft is driven down onto warp hard enough that fabric and design become one thing, the drawing comes up identically on both faces, and the textile lies flat and light.

01The mark of slow weaving

That construction suits hard-edged modern geometry better than a knotted rug does, because a flatweave draws a straight boundary between two colors as a clean structural join rather than as a blurred row of knots. Pink Divison uses that: blocks of color meeting on defined lines, with pink as the color that organizes the rest. The weaving is done on the loom by hand, wool throughout, with the house working through women artisans in a number of different regions rather than one workshop.

02After the color

That is why every kilim in the run differs a little from the next in tone and proportion — different hands, different dye lots, the same drawing. The smaller 120 × 170 size has gone; this is the large one.

03From the hand of the weaver

It should be washed by a professional, and a wool flatweave should never go into a domestic machine. Handwoven kilim, wool throughout, woven on the loom in Türkiye. Designed by Studio Potato; the drawing is called Pink Divison. Flatweave — no pile, reversible, the pattern built into the structure. Geometric blocks in pink and multicolor, on defined edges. 200 × 300 cm (6'7" × 9'10"), the larger of the two sizes made. Woven by women artisans in several regions, so pieces vary between them. Professional washing; never a domestic machine. One piece at this size. Flat weaving keeps this low enough to clear a door and light enough for one person to carry out, which is unusual in anything covering six square meters.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
