The story of this rug

The yarn is first-grade fleece, picked for luster before anything else, and it is what carries the color here. Red and Orange Sivas Zara Handwoven Wool Rug — Anadolu Şal, 80 × 128 cm (2'7" × 4'2"), made by hand in Anatolia in red, blue, yellow, orange and green.

01The memory of a region

There is one of it. Traditional Anatolian motifs in modern color is the whole proposition of the shawl series, and at this size it arrives concentrated. Reds and oranges hold the center of the palette while the blues and greens cool it at the edges.

02Choosing the size

A rug 80 cm wide will not furnish a room. It marks a spot inside one, and this marks it emphatically. It comes off a hand loom in Anatolia after months of work by women who weave for a living.

Because the piece is small, every irregularity is visible: the two ends are not identical, the bands are not exactly parallel, and the tones jump slightly where one dye lot gave way to the next. Those are the marks of the method.

Against timber and gray it sits comfortably; against strong pattern it will not. Between washes a vacuum is enough. Handwoven in Anatolia in first-grade fleece. The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
