02Highlights

Four things that set this rug apart

01

Handwoven rug

A hand-knotted rug is dense and heavy; laid on the floor it does not slide and does not spring underfoot. You can verify the density of the weave on a scale.

02

Wool surface

Wool fiber is naturally crimped and returns to itself after being crushed under weight. Move the sofa and wait for the mark to go.

03

Authentic pattern

Authentic pattern; the motif is built from the yarn itself, not from dye. It does not rub away as the surface wears. The ground reads multicolor.

04

Türkiye production

This rug is made in Türkiye. Writing the place of production onto the spec sheet also makes clear where the price comes from.

Cream Anatolian Hand-Knotted Wool Yörük Rug, Second-Hand — product specifications

The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

The story of this rug

Yörük is the name carried by the pastoral communities that have moved with their flocks across Anatolia for centuries, and it attaches to rugs woven inside that life rather than for a market. This one is hand-knotted in wool, 161 × 228 cm (5'3" × 7'6"), Anatolian figures worked over a cream ground, and it has been owned and walked on before. The house sells it as second-hand and says so plainly rather than reaching for a gentler word.

01At the loom in in Anatolia

On a village rug that has been lived on, the pile is shorter where feet crossed it, the dyes have stepped down a tone from where they started, and whatever loom tension was left in the fabric has long since worked itself out. What arrives has already finished changing. Anatolian drawing of this family is built from hooked forms, stepped diamonds and small star figures set in rows, held in the weaver's memory rather than copied from paper, so the repeat drifts as it climbs. Wool from one end to the other; nothing else went into it.

02How many centimeters, which room

At a little under four square meters it is the size that lands beside a bed, in front of a sofa, or down the middle of a small study. Buying used is buying condition rather than newness — expect unevenness, expect the outline to wander, and expect the piece to look considerably better on a floor than it does in a photograph.

03Color that shifts through the day

It goes to a rug washer, never into a machine, and rarely even then. Tied by hand in Türkiye, wool from warp to pile. Sold second-hand: previously owned, previously walked on. 161 × 228 cm (5'3" × 7'6"), a little under four square meters. Anatolian figures on a cream ground, drawn from memory rather than a cartoon. Pile shortened along the old traffic lines, colors one step quieter than new. The outline wanders; on a used village rug that is condition, not damage. Rug washing by a professional, at long intervals. One piece, with no second one to match it. Rugs like this were woven to be used up rather than kept, which is most of the reason an old one in fair condition is worth finding at all.

07

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

08

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

09

Frequently asked

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
