02Highlights

Four things that set this rug apart

01

Wool yarn

The surface uses Wool. How a rug will feel is set first by the yarn, not by the pattern.

02

Authentic pattern

Authentic pattern. The motif is built while the rug is woven; there is no layer printed on afterward. There is yellow in the ground.

03

3 sizes, one pattern

Woven in 3 sizes, from 122 × 185 cm to 200 × 300 cm, and the pattern stays the same in every size. For anyone who wants to bring the living room and the hallway together, the list starts here.

04

Afghanistan weaving tradition

This rug is woven in Afghanistan. Where a rug is from is read in its knot and its yarn more than in its pattern; that is why the place on the spec sheet matters.

Yellow Anatolian Hand-Knotted Wool Rug, Pinhan Series — product specifications

The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

The story of this rug

The word behind the series is pinhan, which in Turkish means concealed: the Pinhan Series yellow rug in hand-knotted wool, Anatolian figures worked into a mustard-and-gold field, on a cotton foundation, tied in Afghanistan and Pakistan for Halıcızade alone.

01The tone of the ground

One piece in stock. Yellow is the difficult color. Too clean and it turns acid; too soft and it slides into beige within a year of daylight. This one sits at mustard, with gold coming through wherever the pile catches the sun, and the Anatolian figures are drawn in tones dark enough to stay legible against it. The name suits the drawing.

02The mark of slow weaving

From across a room the rug is simply warm, and only from standing height above it do the small geometric forms separate out of the ground. The knot is the double one, tied over two warps at a time — the symmetrical knot Anatolian weavers have used since at least the 13th century, when the Seljuk rugs now held in Konya were made.

03How it feels underfoot

Wool is what the foot meets, and beneath it cotton runs as the frame with a trace of synthetic thread worked in for strength that Halıcızade would rather declare than leave out. No dimension is recorded for this piece, so none is quoted.

04From the hand of the weaver

Vacuum it; leave the washing to a rug cleaner. Hand-knotted in Afghanistan and Pakistan, in the Pinhan series drawn for Halıcızade. Mustard and gold in the field, with Anatolian figures in darker tones. The double knot is used, the same symmetrical knot found in 13th-century Anatolian weaving. Wool surface throughout; the foundation is cotton with a trace of synthetic yarn. Pinhan means concealed, and the drawing is meant to be read from above rather than across. No size is recorded for this piece in the house's own data. Sweep or vacuum at home, and use a professional for washing. Most people rule yellow out early, and it is the one color that will change a dark room in an afternoon.

07

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

08

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

09

Frequently asked

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
