Yellow is the difficult color. Too clean and it turns acid; too soft and it slides into beige within a year of daylight. This one sits at mustard, with gold coming through wherever the pile catches the sun, and the Anatolian figures are drawn in tones dark enough to stay legible against it. The name suits the drawing. From across a room the rug is simply warm, and only from standing height above it do the small geometric forms separate out of the ground.

The knot is the double one, tied over two warps at a time — the symmetrical knot Anatolian weavers have used since at least the 13th century, when the Seljuk rugs now held in Konya were made.
