Red Oushak-Pattern Loom-Woven Rug, Zade Series

In the border, small enough to miss, there is a tree of life. The Red Oushak-Pattern Loom-Woven Rug from the Zade series takes a traditional Oushak field of leaves and flowers, sets it on a red that runs toward earth, and hides the house mark in the frame.

01From ground to pile

Tencel® and cotton, woven in Oushak, in nine sizes up to 200 × 300 cm (6'7" × 9'10"). This is not a signal red. It has clay in it, and it moves: morning light brings the field up, and at dusk the whole thing softens until the leaf drawing goes quiet.

02Reading the motif

The classical arrangement — a repeating floral field held inside a border — is the oldest way of organizing an Oushak, and it is used here without irony or updating. The tree of life in the frame is the single modern gesture, and it is deliberately not where anyone would look first. The warp and pile are set mechanically; the fringes are knotted one at a time afterwards, by women in the Oushak district.

03What Tencel does

Its surface yarn is Tencel®, a lyocell; the ground it sits on is cotton, and together they give a face that stays cool underfoot. Designed and made for Halıcızade rather than bought in. Loom-woven in Oushak, Türkiye — machine structure, hand finishing. Tencel® surface on cotton. A classical Oushak leaf-and-flower field on a clay-red ground. A tree of life worked into the border: the Halıcızade mark. Fringes knotted individually by women in the district. Nine sizes, 90 × 150 cm (2'11" × 4'11") to 200 × 300 cm (6'7" × 9'10"), with 90 × 490 cm runners. Professional washing. Large, it becomes the center of a formal room; small, it is the one thing in a plain room worth stopping at.
