Blue Vintage-Pattern Loom-Woven Tencel® Rug, Zade Series

Blue behaves in this rug the way weather does: cool and thin in morning light, deep and settled by evening, without anything on the surface having changed. A vintage Zade design in Tencel® and cotton, off the Oushak looms, in four sizes whose extremes are 130 × 190 cm and 200 × 300 cm — 4'3" × 6'3" and 6'7" × 9'10" respectively. The outer frame carries the tree of life, worked finely enough that it reads as border rather than as emblem.

Inside it, leaves and flower forms are tucked between thin branches — a busy drawing kept legible by the restraint of the palette. The house made this series because it was tired of seeing the same rugs everywhere, and the vintage handling is the result: old motifs, plainer coloring, nothing antiqued for effect. It is woven on looms in Oushak, and the fringes are then knotted at home, singly, by women in the surrounding villages.

02How it feels underfoot

Both fibers here are plant-derived, and together they give the surface a natural low shine and a soft hand; the rug contains no wool. Pile and lint release are both low, which makes it a practical rug rather than a precious one. Loom-woven in Oushak, Türkiye, and hand-finished in the villages nearby. Tencel® and cotton yarns; wool-free. A tree-of-life border framing a field of leaves and flowers among slender branches. Blue that reads cool in daylight and deeper after dark. Low pile with very little lint release. Made at four sizes, the smallest 130 × 190 cm and the largest 200 × 300 cm. Professional washing when it is due. Put it where the light changes during the day, and it will do most of the work of a window.
