Tencel yarn

Lyocell takes up moisture quickly and releases it quickly, which is why it feels cool to the hand. It does not give the warmth wool gives.

Classic motif

Classic pattern. Because the pattern comes from inside the weave, it can be followed from the back as well. Built on a burgundy, red ground.

The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

The story of this rug

The Turkmen of Afghanistan have woven this family of repeating motifs for centuries; the Nostalji series takes the drawing and puts it on a Turkish loom. Burgundy Afghan Turkmen Loom-Woven Rug — burgundy and navy with gold running through it, a Tencel® surface on a cotton foundation, made in eleven sizes, the largest 240 × 340 cm (7'10" × 11'2"). Burgundy holds the field and navy edges it, and the small amounts of gold are what keep the two deep colors from closing into one.

01Up close to the pattern

The motifs repeat in rows the way Turkmen weaving does, without a central medallion to organize them, so the effect is dense and even: pattern from standing height, separate figures once you sit down on it.

02Color, by the light

Against light furniture it makes a hard contrast; beside gray and anthracite it turns sober. The loom carries the body of the rug and a person closes the ends. Fringes are knotted individually by the women of Oushak, where the finishing for this series is done.

03What the yarn is

Surface fiber: Tencel®. The house does not call it hand-knotted, and that candor is the point — the appeal is how close it gets to the look of one for a fraction of the labor. Loom-woven in Türkiye, from motifs of the Afghan Turkmen tradition. Tencel® pile on a cotton foundation. Burgundy ground, navy border, gold detail. Fringes knotted individually by women in Oushak. Eleven sizes, 90 × 150 cm (2'11" × 4'11") to 240 × 340 cm (7'10" × 11'2"), including 90 × 490 cm runners. Not hand-knotted, and not offered as such. Professional washing. In a study, or a room lined with books, it will look as though it has been there longer than it has.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
