The story of this rug

It begins with wool yarn colored by natural means, before any of it reaches a loom. The Red Gabbeh-Motif Loom-Woven Wool Rug in the Urkum series puts pastel figures on a deep red ground carrying burgundy inside it: 100% wool, colored fringes, made in eight sizes, none bigger than 230 × 330 cm (7'7" × 10'10"). The figures are placed symmetrically here rather than scattered, which is unusual for Gabbeh drawing and gives this rug more order than its yellow and beige siblings.

01Color that shifts through the day

Red and burgundy run into each other across the field, so the ground has depth instead of one flat tone. Pastel is what keeps the figures visible against it; a stronger color would have vanished into the red. Loom weaving, tightly set, which is why the surface comes so close to a hand-knotted rug at a glance.

02How it feels underfoot

Wool and nothing else, thick enough that it lands with weight when it goes down. Halıcızade has this series woven for itself in India. Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
