Lyocell takes its light from the flat cross-section of the fiber, not from a treatment applied afterward. It stays after a professional cleaning.

Classic, Modern pattern. The motif is built row by row as the weaving advances; it is only seen whole once it comes off the loom. The ground color is beige, taupe.

The story of this rug

Tencel® and cotton, put together on a loom in Kütahya: this is a beige rug from the Taftan series, and its classic motifs are drawn so faintly that they read as the shadow of a pattern rather than the pattern itself.

01After the color

Fourteen sizes are made, the largest 300 × 390 cm (9'10" × 12'10") and the smallest 80 × 140 cm (2'7" × 4'7"). The ground is a flat natural beige, and everything that happens on it happens quietly.

02Up close to the pattern

Classic Anatolian motifs sit just below the surface tone, close enough in value that they come and go as the daylight moves around the room; by lamplight in the evening they firm up again. What you get is not a beige rug with a pattern on it but a beige rug that keeps changing its mind about how much pattern to show.

03Knot by knot, by hand

Under a carved console it disappears; in front of a plain sofa it is the only thing in the room with any history in it. This is the middle construction — denser and more even than a machine-made rug, quicker and less costly than a hand-knotted one — and Halıcızade does not present it as hand-knotting.

04What the yarn is

The yarn is Tencel® with cotton, so there is no wool anywhere in it, and the surface carries the low, even sheen that cellulose fiber gives rather than the dry matt of a wool pile. Because the pile is short, dust has very little to lodge in. It should be washed by a professional rather than at home. Loom-woven in Kütahya, Türkiye, machine structure with hand finishing. Tencel® and cotton yarns; no wool in the rug at all. Faded classic motifs on a plain beige ground, with no strong outer frame. The pattern reads faintly in daylight and more clearly under lamplight. Low, even sheen from the Tencel® rather than a printed finish. Fourteen sizes, ending at 300 × 390 cm, and including 80 and 90 cm runner widths up to 490 cm. Professional washing; this is not a rug for a domestic machine. Ten years from now the pattern will be exactly as faint as it is today, which is the point of buying a rug that was made to look already used.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
