02Highlights

Four things that set this rug apart

01

Wool surface

On the surface: Wool, Natural. The shine of the rug, its weight and what its care asks all follow from that choice.

02

Authentic pattern layout

Authentic pattern. The ground and the motif are not parts of separate processes but of the same weave; the two advance together. The ground tone is colorful.

03

Türkiye work

This rug is woven in Türkiye. We write down where it comes from, because we want to be able to name the workshop when someone asks.

04

Professional cleaning

Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. What wears a rug down over the years is not a stain but the dust that settles at the base of the pile and grinds the fibers from inside with every step.

Cicim Handwoven Wool Village Kilim, Anatolian Pattern — product specifications

The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

05

The story of this rug

Wool and only wool — warp, weft and the brocading threads on top of them. A village cicim kilim handwoven in Türkiye, 159 × 255 cm (5'3" × 8'4"), multicolored, worked in Anatolian motifs, and old enough to sit in the house's rare stock.

01The mark of slow weaving

One piece. Working a single fiber through every part of a weaving is a village decision rather than a workshop one. It means the whole piece expands and contracts together with the seasons instead of the warp pulling against a different material, and it means the object ages evenly.

02A question of size

What it costs is dimensional discipline: this kilim will never measure exactly the same twice, and the number on the label is a fair average rather than a guarantee. Anyone ordering furniture to fit it should measure the piece in front of them. The motifs are laid in with supplementary threads over the ground weave — the cicim method — so the drawing has a small physical height to it, and on a wool ground that raised thread takes and returns light differently from the flat surface around it.

03Choosing the size

On four square meters that gives the surface a quiet movement that no photograph carries. Where a foot lands repeatedly the brocading flattens before the ground does, so keep it out of the main line of traffic.

04At the loom in in Anatolia

Send it to a kilim washer once and then leave it alone. Handwoven in Türkiye in a village workshop, wool in warp, weft and brocading alike. Cicim: motifs laid over the flatweave with supplementary threads, standing slightly proud. 159 × 255 cm (5'3" × 8'4"), close to four square meters. All-wool construction moves as one; the measurements shift slightly with humidity. Anatolian motif families in several dyes at once. Brocading flattens under repeated footfall before the ground does. Washing by a kilim washer, and rarely. One of one. A single fiber throughout is the oldest way to build a textile, and it remains the only one that ages at a single rate.

07

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

08

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

09

Frequently asked

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
