02Highlights

Four things that set this rug apart

01

Wool surface

On the surface: Wool, Cotton. The kind of yarn sets the hand of the rug, its shine and what its care asks, all together.

02

Classic motif

Classic, Authentic pattern. Because the pattern comes from inside the weave, it can be followed from the back as well. Built on a colorful ground.

03

Afghanistan loom

This rug is woven in Afghanistan. It comes straight from the workshop with no reseller layer; the place on the spec sheet and the place it was woven are the same.

04

Professional cleaning

Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. A pad laid underneath holds the rug in place and stops it rubbing against the floor; besides preventing sliding it also extends its life.

Multicolor Anatolian-Pattern Hand-Knotted Wool Rug — product specifications

The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

05

The story of this rug

It was woven in Afghanistan, on hand looms, by weavers working a motif vocabulary that runs from Anatolia across Central Asia. A hand-knotted rug, 172 × 244 cm (5'8" × 8'0"), with a wool surface on a cotton foundation and red, yellow, blue and green banded across the field in repeating rows. The rows are the pattern.

01The origin of the pattern

Each band carries a different set of small geometric figures, and the colors change from band to band so the rug reads as an accumulation rather than a single composition — closer to a woven record than to a design. Those figures come from the saddlebags carried on horseback across this region for centuries, where a motif had to be small, high-contrast and repeatable. Nothing about the palette is muted.

02The tone of the ground

Red and yellow do most of the work; blue and green cool the intervals between them. The surface is entirely wool. Underneath it the foundation is cotton, carrying a very small proportion of synthetic yarn for strength — a detail the house prefers to state rather than round up into something purer.

03A line from the archive

A rug this loud has an obvious limitation: it will not sit quietly under a room that already has pattern in it, and it fights curtains. Run a vacuum the way the pile lies; a wash every few years, done professionally, keeps the reds from going dusty. Hand-knotted on hand looms in Afghanistan. Wool surface over a cotton foundation that carries a little synthetic yarn for strength. Banded geometric figures from the saddlebag motif tradition of the region. Red, yellow, blue and green, changing band by band. 172 × 244 cm (5'8" × 8'0"). It will not share a room with other patterns; give it plain walls. Vacuum with the pile; a professional wash every few years. One rug; the next one will not be identical. Rugs like this get inherited more often than they get replaced, mostly because nobody can agree on what would go in its place.

07

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

08

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

09

Frequently asked

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
