Full description
A halı yastığı, a rug pillow, is a small weaving that brings the pattern language of a full rug down to the size of a pillow face. This one measures 54 × 57 cm (1'9" × 1'10"), about 0.3 square meters (roughly 3 square feet), very nearly square. Hand-knotted in Türkiye, in wool.
The pattern is Taşpınar. Taşpınar is a town in Aksaray, and the rug tradition that carries its name is protected as a geographical indication. The medallion-and-corner layout of the large rugs is here too, only scaled down.
A lobed cream medallion sits in the middle of a red field, filled with small red, blue and mustard flowers around a blue rosette. In each corner a green and navy flower cluster opens toward the red. The border is a deep blue lined with small red, yellow and pale blue crosses. A cream band runs between that blue and the red field and keeps the two saturated colors apart.
Lay it on a chair or divan as a seat face; if it is to be sewn up, add a cloth lining behind it. To hang it, stitch a batten along the full width of the top edge. On a walnut chest or table the red field sits on the same warm side as the wood, and the blue border frames it.
Even at this size, the lobes of the medallion can be counted one by one.

Which size fits your room?
The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:
Living room
At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.
Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380
Dining room
It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.
Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340
Bedroom
Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.
Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340
Hallway · runner
Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.
Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

Care — three rules
Vacuum regularly
Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.
Treat spills before they dry
Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.
Leave washing to a professional
Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?
At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.
How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.
Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?
It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.
How does the price change between sizes?
Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
Can I see the rug in Ankara?
Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.
Can I ask for a size that is not listed?
Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
