02Highlights

Four things that set this rug apart

01

Natural surface

On the surface: Natural, Wool. The same pattern woven in another yarn becomes another rug; the difference shows at the first touch.

02

Classic pattern

Classic pattern; the motif is built from the yarn itself, not from dye. It does not rub away as the surface wears. The ground reads burgundy, red.

03

India production

This rug is made in India. Writing the place of production onto the spec sheet also makes clear where the price comes from.

04

Professional cleaning

Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. Turning the rug a hundred and eighty degrees once a year spreads the load of sunlight and foot traffic evenly across the surface.

Technical details

Burgundy Frame-Pattern Hand-Knotted Wool Rug — product specifications

The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

The story of this rug

Burgundy Frame-Pattern Hand-Knotted Wool Rug — a burgundy ground running from cherry through to something nearer wine, with curving branches and stylized flowers drawn over it in powder pink and soft beige, and a cream frame holding the whole.

01From the hand of the weaver

Knotted by hand in wool at 238 × 304 cm (7'10" × 10'0"), at a density visible from standing height. One piece. The ground is the reason to buy it. Burgundy this deep behaves like velvet under light: it takes the color out of a room's corners and gives the floor a weight that nothing else does, and the pale scrollwork over it is drawn fine enough to read like ink on cloth rather than pattern on pile.

02Color, by the light

Cream at the edge keeps the whole from closing. The room this suits has gilt or metal detail in it, velvet upholstery, and enough floor to let the frame stand clear of the furniture — burgundy in a small space stops being rich and starts being dark. Months of patient knotting produced it, and the knot count is doing two jobs at once: it holds the fine motifs at their true width, and it makes a pile firm enough that the surface feels solid rather than soft underfoot.

03What the yarn is

Wool throughout the pile, tightly packed and tough in the hand. A rug of this weight is not a thing you move alone; count on two people and a clear afternoon. Regular cleaning and correct washing will keep both the shape and the depth of color for decades. Hand-knotted in wool over months of work. Burgundy field shading from cherry toward wine, inside a cream frame. Curving branches and stylized flowers drawn in powder pink and soft beige. A knot count high enough to hold the fine motifs at full width. A firm, close pile — solid underfoot rather than plush. 238 × 304 cm (7'10" × 10'0"), for a large formal room. Heavy: two people to move it. Regular cleaning, and washing done properly when it is due. Deep reds lose a little of their heat every decade and gain something else instead, which is the whole argument for buying one new.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

08

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

09

Frequently asked

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
