Cream Framed Classic Hand-Knotted Wool Rug

Woven in Pakistan, by hand, in a tradition the country has kept for generations: Cream Framed Classic Hand-Knotted Wool Rug — wool and viscose, a cream field held inside a drawn border with shallow floral work through it, at 169 × 224 cm (5'7" × 7'4") and 171 × 228 cm (5'7" × 7'6"). Those two sizes are not a misprint. Each piece is knotted rather than cut to length, so no two come off the loom identically.

01What it sits well with

The frame is what the rug is for: it draws a rectangle on the floor and tells the furniture where the middle of the room is, and inside it the motifs are worked shallow, closer to carved stonework on a facade than to anything printed.
