Viscose weave
Viscose fiber takes dye well, so colors come out saturated and mid-tones do not run into each other. A bright surface puts saturation first.

Classic pattern. Because the pattern comes from inside the weave, it can be followed from the back as well. Built on a cream ground.
This rug is woven in India. It comes straight from the workshop with no reseller layer; the place on the spec sheet and the place it was woven are the same.
Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. A pad laid underneath holds the rug in place and stops it rubbing against the floor; besides preventing sliding it also extends its life.
The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.
Krem, vizon ve altın sarısı: çerçeve içinde Uşak motifleri
India, in workshops where the whole rug is still made by hand: this cream frame-pattern rug, 169 × 243 cm (5'7" × 8'0"), takes traditional Oushak motifs and sets them as a border around an open field, in cream, beige, mink, gold-yellow and a pastel green.
Wool pile, viscose detail, cotton foundation. One piece. A frame pattern gives a room a rug with an inside and an outside — the border does the drawing, the field stays open, and furniture placed on the open part does not fight the design.
The five colors are all within a stop of each other, which is why the whole thing reads as calm from a distance and as detailed from a meter away. Pastel green is the surprise in it, small in quantity and enough to keep the cream from tipping into beige. Dense knotting is what holds this together: the closer the knots, the finer the border drawing can be, and the longer the surface takes to show wear.
Wool makes the pile, viscose is worked into the pattern for a silk-like shine, and the cotton foundation beneath carries the tension. Beside cream and coffee-colored furniture it does exactly what it was drawn for; in a plainer room the border becomes the only ornament in the space.
Anything beyond vacuuming should go to a rug washer. Hand-knotted in India by weavers in the traditional workshops. Wool surface with viscose in the pattern; cotton foundation underneath. Dense knotting, which is where the fine border drawing comes from. Oushak frame motifs in cream, beige, mink, gold-yellow and pastel green. Open field, so furniture can sit on it without covering the design. 169 × 243 cm (5'7" × 8'0"): fits a sitting room, or a large bedroom. Professional washing. One piece. A border is a promise about where a room ends, and this one keeps it quietly.
The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:
At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.
Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380
It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.
Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340
Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.
Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340
Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.
Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490
Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.
Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.
Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.
At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.
