02Highlights

Four things that set this rug apart

01

Natural surface

On the surface: Natural, Silk, Wool. The shine of the rug, its weight and what its care asks all follow from that choice.

02

Classic pattern

Classic pattern. The motif is built while the rug is woven; there is no layer printed on afterward. There is burgundy, red, green in the ground.

03

Türkiye weaving tradition

This rug is woven in Türkiye. Where a rug is from is read in its knot and its yarn more than in its pattern; that is why the place on the spec sheet matters.

04

Professional cleaning

Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. Once a week with a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile, is enough for everyday care.

Burgundy Oushak-Pattern Handwoven Wool Rug, Harem Series — product specifications

The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

The story of this rug

Western Anatolia is where this pattern comes from. Oushak has been sending out medallion-and-border drawings since the fifteenth century, and this is a handwoven wool rug in burgundy that takes the old composition and reads it for a room built now.

01The mark of slow weaving

Tied on the Anatolian double knot in a Turkish workshop, made for Halıcızade by Çınhar. Burgundy behaves like two colors depending on where the light comes from. Under a warm bulb it goes red and forward; in daylight from a north window it settles back toward brown and lets the ornament do the talking.

02After the color

The Oushak scrollwork sits on top of that shift without being disturbed by it, because the drawing is built from outlines rather than from washes of color. Green appears in the smaller motifs, which is the note that keeps the whole thing from reading as one deep tone. Erzurum wool again, bright and strong, and the same double knot the workshop has used throughout the Harem series.

03What Silk does

Real Bursa silk turns up in a few pieces of the series — it is rare enough now that even the textile trade sees little of it. What burgundy will not do is disappear: this is a rug that decides the temperature of a room, and if you want the floor to stay quiet you want a different one.

04At the loom in in Anatolia

Professional cleaning; no bleach near it, ever. Handwoven in a Turkish workshop by Çınhar, for Halıcızade. Erzurum wool pile, tied on the Anatolian double knot. Classical Oushak motifs, redrawn rather than reproduced. Burgundy ground with green in the smaller ornament. Real Bursa silk appears in some Harem pieces — it has become scarce. It sets the temperature of a room rather than following it. Clean professionally; keep bleach away from the pile. A single rug, not part of a run. It sits well beside walnut and old leather, and it will outlast both if the double knot does its job.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

08

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Frequently asked

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
