Only this one exists, with nothing to follow it. The framing is what a corridor needs.

01Reading the motif

Two borders run the whole length and keep the eye moving forward instead of stopping it, and inside them the drawing is floral rather than geometric — rose heads, leaves, the small hooked flowers Oushak weavers have used for centuries.

02Which tone on the ground

Pale green sits against the cream in the leaves and burgundy in the flower centers, and neither is strong enough to stop the runner being a light object in a dim passage. Under a hall lamp the cream goes almost white; in daylight from an open door it comes back to bone. Mohair is the fleece of the Angora goat, longer in the staple and glossier than sheep's wool, and it is seldom spun for rug pile because it is costly and awkward to knot.

03The Wool on the surface

That is the argument for this runner: the surface keeps a faint sheen wool does not give, and it stays soft underfoot through the years a hallway rug spends being walked on. Türkiye is where it was tied, in a trade whose surviving workshops are counted in fewer numbers each year.

04The tone of the ground

A pale ground in a corridor takes the most traffic in the house and shows it soonest, which is fairer said before than after. Professional washing; vacuum along the length, not across it. A single piece. A decade of feet will pull the cream half a tone warmer, and that is the direction mohair is supposed to travel.
