The story of this rug

Şahzade Series, woven by hand in Afghanistan at 123 × 186 cm (4'0" × 6'1"). An Oushak drawing in the classical manner, gray throughout, wool in the pile over a cotton foundation carrying a small quantity of synthetic thread. One piece. Gray carries no temperature of its own, so it neither warms nor cools what stands on it.

01What it sits well with

In practice the upholstery, the wood and the wall color set the mood of the room and the rug agrees with all three instead of competing with any of them. That is the argument for this one. The Oushak drawing keeps its large scale even at this size, which means the motifs read as motifs rather than as texture. At 123 × 186 cm this is a rug for a study, a bedside, or the floor in front of a sofa rather than under it.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
