The story of this rug

The pattern is there and not there. This is a gray loom-woven rug from the Taftan series — Tencel® and cotton, woven in Kütahya — with a vintage Oushak drawing faded so far into the ground that from standing height the whole surface reads as texture.

01How many centimeters, which room

Sixteen sizes, the largest 300 × 390 cm (9'10" × 12'10"). Step closer and the motifs resolve. Beige runs beneath the gray as a second tone, and the two shift as the light moves: in the middle of the day the surface holds a flat, calm brightness, and by lamplight it deepens and the drawing comes up.

02A line from the archive

The classical Oushak border is still in there, redrawn loosely enough that nothing reads as a reproduction. Under a plain sofa it disappears into the floor; under a walnut console it turns into something with a history. It comes off a loom in Kütahya and is finished in the workshops around it.

03How it feels underfoot

Tencel® gives the face its low shine and cotton gives the body its weight — surface and foundation doing separate jobs. One thing worth saying: a gray this pale shows what lands on it, so in a busy room it is a maintenance decision as much as a design one. Loom-woven in Kütahya, Türkiye. Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
