Gray and Orange Vintage Loom-Woven Wool Rug from the Tempus series: a gray ground with clearly drawn orange motifs across it, wool over a cotton warp, medium pile, tightly packed, woven in Aegean Türkiye in ten sizes, none larger than 300 × 400 cm (9'10" × 13'1"). Unlike the faded patterns elsewhere in Tempus, the orange here is not softened.

The motifs sit sharp against the gray and are meant to be read from the doorway, which makes this a focal rug rather than a background one and explains why it usually goes into rooms that are otherwise neutral.

Orange against gray is a cold-warm pairing, and it holds up under daylight and tungsten alike, which not every orange manages. Wool for the surface over a cotton warp, and nothing synthetic, which is where the density and the hand of it come from.
