01Knot by knot, by hand

Blue-Gray Oushak-Pattern Round Loom-Woven Wool Rug, Tempus Series — wool and cotton, made on Aegean looms in Türkiye. Oushak names a weaving town in western Anatolia and the large open floral drawing its looms are known for. Setting that drawing into a circle changes how it behaves: rather than spreading outward toward four corners it repeats around the center, and the eye is pulled inward every time it lands.

A wide dark blue border closes the field, backed by a narrower band repeating the same floral order, with a thin gray line outermost. Under a round dining table with wooden chairs, or in an entrance with a round console and a copper-toned light, it gives the space a middle. The Aegean looms combine the two methods, which is where the hand feel and the middle price both come from — wool and cotton worked on a loom rather than knotted row by row.

The pile is medium in height and closely packed, so it does not fluff and there is little for dust to settle into. Tempus is a handful of designs picked out of several hundred, and Halıcızade says plainly that the picking was deliberate rather than casual.

The tree of life woven into it is the house mark. It cleans professionally, and that is the only route we would recommend. Woven in the Aegean, on looms that combine machine and hand.
