Full description

An eight-pointed star, cream on navy, sits at the middle of this piece and everything else is arranged around it. It is a small Anatolian village weaving — hand-knotted in wool, 57 × 60 cm (1'10" × 2'0"), nearly square, with the navy panel set into a brick-orange ground and a brick border of diamond rows. Made in Türkiye; a single piece.

The eight-pointed star is the most widely shared motif in Anatolian weaving and nearly every region calls it something different. It survives because it fits the loom: eight equal arms can be counted out in knots without a single curve, so a weaver can set it down from memory and get it right. On a piece this small getting it right is harder rather than easier — there is no margin, and a drift of two or three knots would be visible at once. The arms here are even.

Wool for everything, worked on a hand loom. Short warps are steadier than long ones, which is why small weavings usually come off the loom with straighter edges than big ones do; this one is square-cut and true. Brick-orange and navy are opposites on the color wheel, so a piece of this size carries more contrast than its dimensions suggest and will not be lost on a plain wall — though it will be lost completely on a crowded shelf. It is too small for a floor in any normal room, so treat it as a stool cover, a seat pad or a hung textile. Professional washing.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
