Cream and Faded Pink Floral Hand-Knotted Wool Rug

A faded pink runs through the flowers, closer to the color of a dried petal than to anything a paint chart would name. It sits on a cream field of baroque scrollwork, hand-knotted in Anatolia in wool and silk, 245 × 312 cm (8'0" × 10'3"). One piece. 01The tone of the ground

Cream, beige and brown carry the rest, in transitions gentle enough that no single line stands out from standing height. The surface returns light rather than absorbing it, which brightens a dark floor and gives a pale one a little more depth. It was woven by hand in Anatolia on traditional looms, in wool with silk in the pattern, at a knot density that holds a curve without breaking it into steps.
