01From the hand of the weaver

Made once, on a loom in Anatolia. Almost all of the surface is empty, and that emptiness is what lets one small figure carry a whole room. It is also a deliberate refusal of what usually goes into a child's room: the bright primaries, the repeating characters, the pattern that fills every inch. What stands in their place is a single image of change.

02Color, by the light

Gold and honey run through the wings, gray holds the veins, and the cream around them stays quiet enough that the figure never has to compete for attention. In an Anatolian stone house the hatıl is the timber tie-beam buried inside the wall: invisible, undecorated, and the reason the wall stands. The series takes its name from that.

03Knot by knot, by hand

Women in Anatolia weave these on looms where the machinery builds the structure and hands complete it — that is what loom-woven means, and the whole of what it means. Tencel® is lyocell, spun from wood pulp; it puts a low shine on the surface and feels cool underfoot, while the wool beside it supplies warmth and body.

04Color that shifts through the day

Cream on this scale remembers whatever the room does to it, so it belongs where shoes come off. It should be cleaned professionally. Loom-woven in Anatolia by women weavers: machine structure, hand finishing. Tencel® with wool in the pile, on a cotton foundation. A single gold-honey butterfly with gray veining, on an open cream ground. Named after the hatıl, the beam buried in a stone wall to keep it standing. Tencel® is lyocell, made from wood pulp; it gives the low sheen and the cool hand. 170 × 240 cm (5'7" × 7'10") — a child's room, a bedroom, a reading corner. A pale ground that shows marks.
