Every knot in this rug is tied by hand; instead of the exact repetition of a machine loom you get the slight differences the hand leaves behind. No two areas come out the same.

The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

The story of this rug

Mihman Series, woven by hand in Afghanistan at 152 × 203 cm (5'0" × 6'8"). A floral drawing in the authentic manner, orange across the field, wool in the pile over a cotton foundation carrying a small quantity of synthetic thread.

01The origin of the pattern

One piece. Authentic, as the house uses the word, means the drawing was not redesigned for a catalog. The flowers are the village repertoire — angular rather than botanical, repeated across the field the way a weaver working from memory repeats them.

02The tone of the ground

Orange is either the reason to buy it or the reason not to. At this size it is a rug for a hall, a kitchen or the foot of a bed, and it will set the color of whatever room it lands in. Afghan weaving culture runs centuries deep, and every knot here was tied by hand inside it.

03From ground to pile

The foundation is cotton carrying a small quantity of synthetic thread, added for strength and stated rather than glossed over. Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
