The story of this rug

175 × 242 cm (5'9" × 7'11") is the size that fits a sofa and two chairs without touching the walls. Yellow Oushak Hand-Knotted Wool Rug from the Retro Series — classical Oushak motifs reworked in modern yellows, hand-knotted in Pakistan and Afghanistan, a wool pile over cotton warps. The character comes from the finishing rather than from the drawing.

01How it feels underfoot

Retro rugs go through specific washing and yarn-dyeing processes, and what those produce is a surface with two things happening at once: a low shine that catches a lamp, and a depth in the darker yellows that stops the rug looking new.

02Up close to the pattern

Set against modern furniture the pattern reads as historical; set against antiques it reads as the modern thing in the room. It is a design that works by refusing to commit to either era. The construction is thin and durable, wool knotted onto cotton warps, and a small amount of recycled synthetic thread is spun into the base to keep it rigid.

03The Wool on the surface

Halıcızade states that plainly rather than calling the rug all-natural, and the fiber you actually touch is wool. It takes an office as easily as a sitting room, which is not true of every hand-knotted rug: this one has the low profile a desk chair needs.

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
