Full description
Şahzade Series, woven by hand in Afghanistan at 213 × 293 cm (7'0" × 9'7"). An Oushak drawing in the classical manner, orange across the field, wool in the pile over a cotton foundation carrying a small quantity of synthetic thread. One piece.
Oushak is the weaving district in western Anatolia whose rugs turn up in European paintings from the fifteenth century onward, and what separates those drawings from what came later is scale: large motifs, generous spacing, a border that frames rather than crowds. That is what the Şahzade drawing takes. Worked in orange the effect is warm and open, the field doing most of the talking and the motifs large enough to read from across a room.
This is Afghan work in the Anatolian repertoire, which is an old arrangement rather than a new one. The pile is wool. The foundation is cotton with a small quantity of synthetic thread added for durability. At 213 × 293 cm it takes a sitting-room floor with the furniture standing on it rather than around it. Which size fits your room?
The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:
Living room
At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Dining room
It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Bedroom
Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Care — three rules
Vacuum regularly
Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.
Treat spills before they dry
Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.
Leave washing to a professional
Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?
At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.
How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?
It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.
How does the price change between sizes?
Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
Can I see the rug in Ankara?
Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.
Can I ask for a size that is not listed?
Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
