The story of this rug

Oushak-derived flowers in cream, gold-yellow and green, drawn out along the length of a Sultan-series rug measuring 207 × 299 cm (6'9" × 9'10") — long enough to run down a room rather than sit in the middle of one.

01The mark of slow weaving

Tied by hand on a Turkish loom in wool, with silk carried through the motifs. A single piece. Length changes how a floral pattern behaves. Stretched over three meters the flowers stop reading as a repeat and start reading as a procession, and the eye follows them from one end to the other instead of settling in the center.

02After the color

Cream gives them room. Gold-yellow warms the whole field a degree, and the green is used sparingly enough that it registers as leaf rather than as a color in its own right. Beside pale walls and a long low sofa the effect is calm; against dark timber the rug turns into the brightest thing in the space. Wool takes the traffic and silk takes the light, worked into one pile in Türkiye at the density the Sultan series was built around.

03From the hand of the weaver

High knot counts are what make a small flower possible: at a looser weave the same motif would round off into a blur. The series has been discontinued, and rare yarn was part of the reason — pieces of this class are simply harder to put together than they were.

04Which furniture, which room

A rug this long needs floor at both ends to look right; in a short room it will be half under the furniture. Professional washing. Tied on a Turkish loom in wool, with silk running through the motifs. Cream ground, gold-yellow warmth, green used only in the leaves. 207 × 299 cm (6'9" × 9'10") — long enough to run the length of a room. The knot count is what keeps small flower forms from blurring. Matt wool behind, reflective silk in the drawing. Pairs with wood and with metal-legged modern furniture alike. Wants clear floor at both ends; it is wasted in a short room. Professional washing.

The Sultan series is no longer produced. Long rugs are bought for rooms people already have and kept for rooms they have not moved into yet.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
