The story of this rug

The cream changes through the day — deeper in the morning, shallower at noon, and by evening barely a color at all — and the flowers drawn on it are deliberately faint, set into the ground like something half remembered.

01The mark of slow weaving

A Sultanahmet-series rug of 250 × 347 cm (8'2" × 11'5"), knotted by hand in India. One piece. Everything about the drawing is understated on purpose. The transitions between one flower and the next are soft rather than outlined, nothing is placed for emphasis, and the composition is orderly enough to look considered without ever announcing itself.

02Where it sits in the house

That restraint is what lets a rug of nearly nine square meters sit in a room without dominating it. In practice it means the furniture is what people notice and the floor is what makes the furniture look right. Wool and cotton give the surface its body, and viscose adds the slight sheen that keeps the pale drawing from disappearing altogether.

03From the hand of the weaver

The knots number in the tens of thousands and were set one by one across months of work. The size suits a wide seating area, the floor around a large dining table, or a spacious bedroom. Solid timber and walnut furniture sit on it well.

Daily care is a wipe and a sweep; for a proper clean it goes to specialists, who will bring the ground back to the tone it started at. The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
