On the surface: Wool, Natural. The kind of yarn sets the hand of the rug, its shine and what its care asks, all together.
Classic pattern. Because the pattern comes from inside the weave, it can be followed from the back as well. Built on a colorful ground.
This rug is woven in Türkiye. It comes straight from the workshop with no reseller layer; the place on the spec sheet and the place it was woven are the same.
Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. A pad laid underneath holds the rug in place and stops it rubbing against the floor; besides preventing sliding it also extends its life.
The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

The medallion came first and the rug was built around it: a hand-knotted wool rug woven in Uşak in 2023, 204 × 349 cm (6'8" × 11'5"), copying an old Uşak drawing of the kind held in museum collections.
Brick, mustard, blue and navy, all of it in wool, with plant dyes and synthetic dyes both used to get there. A central medallion anchors the field and the corner pieces answer it — the classical Anatolian arrangement, where the corners are quarters of the same medallion cut by the border.
Brick red carries the ground. Mustard picks out the interior drawing and reads almost gold where daylight crosses it, then settles back to ochre in a lamplit room. Blue and navy are held for the outlines and the border, so the pattern keeps its edges from a standing height instead of dissolving into warm color. It was knotted in Uşak in 2023, in wool throughout, from a drawing taken line for line off a documented historical example rather than adapted from one.
The yarn was colored with a mix: madder and other plant dyes for some of it, synthetic dyes for the rest, and rather than describe the whole rug as plant-dyed, the house names both. Plant-dyed yarn moves in tone from batch to batch, so expect the field to shift a little in bands across its width — that is abrash, and on a rug this size it is the difference between a weaving and a print.
Skilled hands only for washing. Hand-knotted in Uşak, western Anatolia, in 2023. Wool throughout — surface and drawing both. The design is a line-for-line copy of a historical Uşak pattern of museum type. Dyed with a combination of plant dyes, madder among them, and synthetic dyes. Central medallion with matching corner quarters, in brick, mustard, blue and navy. Expect abrash — tonal banding across the field where dye lots changed. 204 × 349 cm (6'8" × 11'5"), large enough to carry a full seating group. Washing by an experienced hand only. Put it in a room with old wood and it argues its case; put it in a white one and the medallion does all the talking.
The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:
At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.
Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380
It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.
Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340
Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.
Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340
Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.
Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490
Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.
Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.
Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.
At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.
