Lyocell takes its light from the flat cross-section of the fiber, not from a treatment applied afterward. It stays after a professional cleaning.

The story of this rug

80 × 130 cm (2'7" × 4'3") — the size a prayer rug has been for centuries, because it is the size of a person kneeling. This one is loom-woven in Kütahya from Tencel® and cotton, with the mihrab arch drawn in earth tones and red, orange and green meeting in soft transitions around it. The arch is the oldest device in Anatolian prayer weaving: it points, and the person using the rug knows which way to face.

01A line from the archive

Around it, plant motifs stand for the continuity of life, and the Halıcızade tree of life is worked into every piece. The colors never go hard — they run into one another rather than meeting at an edge, which is what keeps a rug this warm from reading as loud.

02Coming off the loom

It works as well in a quiet corner of a house as in a room set aside for prayer. Kütahya, on the loom, where the loom ties the knots; the fringes are then tied singly by women in the district.

03What the yarn is

Both yarns come from plants, and the surface shows brighter and more saturated from one direction and matt from the other, so the colors appear to breathe as the light moves. Underfoot it is soft, closer to a hand-woven rug than the technique would suggest.

It sheds very little. Loom-woven in Kütahya, Türkiye, designed and made for Halıcızade alone. Tencel® and cotton in the pile; contains no wool. A mihrab arch in earth tones, with red, orange and green in soft transitions. The tree of life, standing for continuity and hope, is woven into every piece. Measures 80 × 130 cm. Fringes completed by hand, one at a time. Have it professionally washed. It is a small object with a fixed job, and the design has not needed to change in five hundred years. This rug belongs to the Zade Series.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
