Tribal, Traditional pattern. The motif is built while the rug is woven; there is no layer printed on afterward. There is red, colorful in the ground.
This rug is woven in Türkiye. Where a rug is from is read in its knot and its yarn more than in its pattern; that is why the place on the spec sheet matters.
Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. Once a week with a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile, is enough for everyday care.
The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.
Tencel® ve pamuk aynı dokumada: mat yanında parlak
What looks like a classical wool rug has no wool in it: a red Oushak-pattern rug with a central medallion, loom-woven in Türkiye, the pile Tencel® and the ground cotton, 200 × 300 cm, put into feet 6'7" × 9'10".
From the Zade series. Göbek is the Turkish word for the central medallion, and it is the oldest organizing device in Anatolian weaving — a single large form in the middle of the field, with quarter versions of itself repeated in the four corners so the eye finishes the shape.
The Oushak repertoire is where the form is most confidently drawn, and it is used here on a red that leans toward earth rather than toward fire. Those corner quarters are the detail worth noticing, because they are not decoration; they are the medallion running on past the edge of the rug. Tencel® is a lyocell spun from wood pulp, and on a floor it does two things wool cannot — it stays cool underfoot and it takes a red dye to a depth that does not chalk out over years.
The foundation under it is cotton. The rug is loom-woven: the body is set mechanically, the finishing at both ends is hand work, and Halıcızade names the construction honestly. A wool-free rug is what some households are actually looking for, and this is one, stated plainly. Set against that, lyocell is slippery on a hard floor and wants a pad. Cleaning goes to a professional. Loom-woven in Türkiye, hand-finished at the ends and fringes. Tencel® lyocell face on a cotton foundation — no wool used anywhere. An Oushak central medallion with quarter medallions in the four corners. Red leaning to earth rather than to fire. 200 × 300 cm (6'7" × 9'10"), six square meters, two pieces held. Lyocell keeps a deep dye without chalking as it ages. Use a pad: the face slides on stone and polished board. Professional cleaning. The medallion has been drawn this way in Anatolia for five hundred years, and the only new thing about this one is what it is made of.
A long look at the surface, the edge finish and the sizes.
The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:
At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.
Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380
It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.
Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340
Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.
Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340
Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.
Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490
Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.
Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.
Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.
At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.
