That structure is why a rug with no motif on it never reads as vague. With gray and anthracite seating and black metal it goes industrial; on a beige floor in a plain room it is the one warm object and the space organizes itself around it. Silk sits in the orange and red passages, and it shows most when light strikes at a low angle — early and late, the fire looks lit, and at midday it settles down again.

02How it feels underfoot

Wool does everything else: the gray, the matt base, the resistance to wear. The knot is doubled and close, which at two and a half by three meters is what keeps the edges from going wavy over the years.
