The story of this rug

It is assembled rather than woven in one go: separate flat-woven panels, each carrying its own drawing, joined into one kilim measuring 120 × 180 cm (3'11" × 5'11"), in earth-toned browns. Handwoven in India, in wool with cotton and bamboo viscose. Because every panel came from a different piece of weaving, the browns do not match. They run from a light tan through to something near coffee, and the seams between them stay visible on purpose.

01Reading the motif

Each patch keeps its own motif, so the surface is a set of small unrelated arguments held together by nothing but color. That is the appeal of patchwork and also its limit — there is no composition to stand back and read, only close-range interest. The panels are handwoven in India, then cut and joined by hand afterward.

02What Wool does

Wool gives the surface its body, cotton holds the structure together, and the bamboo viscose is what keeps a piece this size light enough to lift with one hand and shake out. It can be wiped down between proper cleanings and should go to a professional for those. On a smooth floor it will travel unless there is a pad underneath. Handwoven in India from wool, cotton and bamboo viscose. Separate flatwoven panels cut and joined by hand, the seams left visible. Earth-toned browns running from tan to near-coffee, each panel keeping its own motif. Light enough to lift and shake out with one hand. 120 × 180 cm (3'11" × 5'11") — a kitchen, a balcony, a child's room, or beside a bed. Wipeable between cleanings; professional washing for a proper one. It needs a pad on a polished floor. Patchwork suits a room with several things already going on in it, because one more will not be noticed.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
