The pattern is vintage in treatment and abstract in structure. A single piece, from a series carried in very few places. Copper is the color the rug is named for and the one that settles it — a warm metallic mid-tone that pulls gold out of the yellow and keeps the silver from going cold. Vintage treatment means the drawing is worn rather than crisp, the forms softened as though the rug had already had one life before this one.

02How it feels underfoot

Beside plain gray furniture the copper is the sole source of warmth in the frame, and it ends up carrying the temperature of a whole room on its own. Cotton is the warp; wool is worked over it for the body of the surface; viscose and bamboo viscose go mostly into the motifs, where their sheen gives the drawing depth against a matt wool ground.
