This rug is woven in India. It comes straight from the workshop with no reseller layer; the place on the spec sheet and the place it was woven are the same.

Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. A pad laid underneath holds the rug in place and stops it rubbing against the floor; besides preventing sliding it also extends its life.

The story of this rug

Red, green and blue laid on in strokes rather than motifs: a handwoven Aren Series rug in wool, cotton and viscose, 270 × 372 cm (8'10" × 12'2"), woven in India and read more easily as an abstract painting than as a pattern.

01After the color

The colors thicken in places and thin out in others. Only one was made. The reds sit at the deep end of the register, the greens where a forest sits, and the blues are lake blues rather than sky.

02From the hand of the weaver

Where two colors meet the knots interleave instead of stopping at a line, so the joins look brushed rather than drawn. What you see depends on where the light is coming from — from one side the field resolves into landscape, from the other into weather. Wool and cotton do the structural work and viscose carries the shine through the brighter passages. Holding this many colors at the knot density Aren is woven to is the difficult part: every change of color is a change of yarn at the loom, and a field with no repeat in it has thousands of them.

03The Wool on the surface

A professional wash when it needs one, and an ordinary vacuum until then. Handwoven in India from wool, cotton and viscose. 270 × 372 cm (8'10" × 12'2") — a room-sized piece. No repeat anywhere in the field; each color change is a separate yarn at the loom. Viscose is used in the brighter passages, which is where the shine comes from. Knotted densely, in the manner the series is known for. The word aren points at a grain of sand — the one in a desert that catches most light. Professional washing; vacuum in normal use. Woven once.

When this one is gone the design is gone with it. Hung on a wall it would be taken for a painting, which is a slightly embarrassing thing to say about a floor covering and is nonetheless the case.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
