02Highlights

Four things that set this rug apart

01

Wool yarn

The surface uses Wool, Silk, Natural. How a rug will feel is set first by the yarn, not by the pattern.

02

Classic pattern

Classic pattern; the motif is built from the yarn itself, not from dye. It does not rub away as the surface wears. The ground reads colorful.

03

India production

This rug is made in India. Writing the place of production onto the spec sheet also makes clear where the price comes from.

04

Professional cleaning

Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. Turning the rug a hundred and eighty degrees once a year spreads the load of sunlight and foot traffic evenly across the surface.

Multicolor Oushak Hand-Knotted Wool and Silk Rug, Elvan Series — product specifications

The nature of handwork: Every woven rug is made one at a time, so sizes and color tones can vary by up to 3%. Small irregularities where the yarns cross are not faults; they are the signature of the weave.

The story of this rug

Multicolor Oushak Hand-Knotted Wool and Silk Rug, Elvan Series — a cream ground carrying a dense Oushak field of flowers and medallions in red, blue, pink, turquoise, orange and purple, knotted by hand in India at 182 × 273 cm (6'0" × 8'11").

01What the yarn is

The ground is wool; every colored passage is sari silk. There is one of it. Each medallion has been given a color combination of its own rather than repeating the one beside it, and fine branch and leaf work runs between them to hold the field together.

02To make it last

The nearest thing to it is stained glass: the eye stops somewhere different each time and finds a pairing it had not noticed before. A narrow border wraps the ground and repeats the same palette at closer intervals, so the frame is busier than the field it encloses.

03After the color

In a room with beige or white walls and a plain gray sofa, the color becomes the character of the space and nothing else has to. Elvan means many-colored, which is description rather than flourish.

04From the hand of the weaver

A piece this size is many months at the loom in India. Wool makes the ground, matt and firm, while the pattern is worked in sari silk — short-staple silk fiber drawn from the making of sari cloth, and the reason the colors sit so high and bright against the wool around them.

05The Wool on the surface

No synthetic yarn goes into the piece. Because the colorways are assembled one rug at a time, another arranged exactly this way is not something the house can promise. The washing is specialist work. Wool and sari silk, knotted by hand in India across several months. 182 × 273 cm (6'0" × 8'11") — an entrance, a sitting room, a bedroom or a conservatory. Cream ground with a dense Oushak field of flowers and medallions. Every medallion carries its own color pairing; the border repeats the palette more tightly. Sari silk in the colored passages, wool through the ground. No synthetic yarn in the construction. One piece; the colorway is not repeated. Professional washing. Rooms that have gone quiet tend to get a new lamp; this is the other solution, and it lasts longer.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

08

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Frequently asked

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
