Lyocell surface

Tencel is a brand name; the fiber itself is called lyocell and is made from wood cellulose. It gives the surface a shine close to silk.

Modern pattern

Modern, Authentic pattern; the motif is built from the yarn itself, not from dye. It does not rub away as the surface wears. The ground reads taupe, beige, cream.

The story of this rug

The old doors of Kemaliye carry two knockers, one deep-voiced and one high: a man calling used the deep one and a woman the high one, so the door would be answered by someone of the same sex.

01The mark of slow weaving

This rug draws one of those doors in mink and Tencel® — a loom-woven piece from the Günyolu series, on a 100% cotton foundation. The drawing is almost tactile. Vertical grain runs the length of the field, small proud sections stand where planks have lifted, and a thin wrought-iron ornament sits at the middle of the panel.

02After the color

Nothing is outlined; the whole door is made out of tone. Mink is the right ground for it — a warm neutral that reads brown by lamplight and gray under an overcast window — and the pattern stays quiet enough to live under furniture.

03What Tencel does

It suits someone who wants a floor with a subject and no volume. Tencel® over cotton, made in Kütahya and Uşak, the loom carrying the field and hands closing it. The luster of Tencel® is doing the carpentry: it catches on the grain lines and on the ironwork so those details surface as the light moves, then flattens again when it goes. Kemaliye's doors hold a geographical indication, the sort of protection usually given to cheeses and olive oils, and the Günyolu series takes its name from a mountain village of the same district.

04Color, by the light

A vacuum keeps it; a workshop cleans it. Loom-woven in Kütahya and Uşak: Tencel® on a 100% cotton foundation. A Kemaliye plank door drawn in tone on a mink ground, with a wrought-iron detail at the center. Kemaliye's doors carry a geographical indication; their two knockers sounded at different pitches. Mink reads brown by lamplight and gray under a cool window. Günyolu takes its name from a mountain village of Kemaliye, in Erzincan. Sizes vary by piece. Each piece is marked with the house tree of life. Professional washing. Doors get replaced long before the houses they belong to; this is one that has been kept.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
