The story of this rug

One thing to settle before anything else: the house does not recommend this rug to anyone with a sensitivity to wool. It is a loom-woven wool rug in navy with abstract forms in gray over a deep navy field, made in Türkiye, and the fringes at both ends were knotted one at a time by hand.

01Choosing the size

Its dimensions, plainly: 200 × 300 cm (6'7" × 9'10"). Nothing else like it comes off that loom. Navy behaves like night on this surface and the gray behaves like the hour before it gets light.

02Color, by the light

The two do not blend into each other — they are set side by side, each holding its own tone, so the field has depth without any of the muddiness a graded navy usually falls into. The forms themselves are abstractions of Anatolian motifs: you can find the source shapes in old village weaving if you look, but nothing here is quoting anything directly.

03The origin of the pattern

From above, the pattern is clear. From a low chair it flattens into a dark, textured plane. It is made in Türkiye by a process that puts a machine and a person on the same rug. A loom lays down the structure in wool, and the fringes are then knotted one at a time by hand, which is why no two rugs in this line finish identically at the ends.

04From ground to pile

The wool is thick enough to give the floor some warmth and firm enough to keep its shape under furniture. It is also a high-wool surface, and that is the reason for the sentence at the top of this page. Loom-woven in Türkiye in wool, with the fringes hand-knotted individually. Thick and firm; it holds its shape under furniture legs. Straightforward to vacuum. Not recommended for anyone with a wool sensitivity. Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
