The story of this rug

Seventy percent wool, thirty percent viscose — wool for the resilience, viscose for the light — and that ratio is the whole design of this rug. Loom-Woven Plain Gray Wool and Viscose Rug, 200 × 300 cm, with a flecked surface that looks woven rather than drawn, and a 9 mm pile that comes out thin but comfortable. The flecking moves slowly between warm and cool grays with no hard boundary anywhere, so the shadows across it change as the light does through the day.

It is a rug for a house where quiet is the point: it does not compete with anything and it is missed when it is not there. Underfoot it is neither plush nor hard — a balanced middle that gives back the same feeling every time, and it does not keep the print of a footstep. Weaving workshops in India make these, on looms where the hand and the machine share a frame: structure laid down mechanically, finishing done by a person.

01The Wool on the surface

Wool takes the traffic and keeps the pile standing; viscose brings the faint sheen that makes gray look like a color rather than an absence. The size range is wide, which is why the same rug turns up in living rooms, bedrooms and entrance halls.

It responds well to professional cleaning and needs little else. Loom-woven in India — hand and machine working the same loom. 70% wool, 30% viscose. 9 mm pile: thin, even and comfortable to walk on. 200 × 300 cm (6'7" × 9'10"), and made in a range of other sizes. Wool surface does not hold walking marks and keeps its form. Flecked gray, tone into tone, warm and cool at once. Professional cleaning. A floor you stop noticing after a week, which for a plain rug is the highest possible compliment.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
