Lyocell surface

Tencel is a brand name; the fiber itself is called lyocell and is made from wood cellulose. It gives the surface a shine close to silk.

Classic pattern

Classic pattern; the motif is built from the yarn itself, not from dye. It does not rub away as the surface wears. The ground reads black, navy blue, colorful.

Türkiye production

This rug is made in Türkiye. Writing the place of production onto the spec sheet also makes clear where the price comes from.

The story of this rug

Oushak in western Anatolia has woven rugs since the fifteenth century, and the district is known for large medallions, open fields and a gentle palette. Here that drawing arrives on navy: a Zade series rug off a loom in Türkiye, Tencel® on a cotton ground, 200 × 300 cm, stated in feet 6'7" × 9'10". Navy does something specific to a medallion pattern.

01Up close to the pattern

On the pale grounds Oushak is usually associated with, the medallion sits inside the field and reads as an ornament; on a dark ground it reads as a silhouette, and the eye takes the shape before it takes the detail.

02Knot by knot, by hand

That is a more graphic effect than the original weavers were after, and it is the reason this version belongs in a modern room rather than a period one. Away from a window it goes close to black. Near a lamp the blue comes back, and with it the pattern. A mechanical loom does the body of the work, and the two ends with their fringes are closed by a person afterward. Halıcızade sells it as loom-woven and not as anything grander.

03What the yarn is

The pile is Tencel®, a lyocell fiber, over a cotton foundation, so wool plays no part in it. The series is marked with a tree of life, which belongs to the house rather than to the regional repertoire. The practical caution with a dark rug on a dark floor is that it disappears — put this over pale boards or a light tile and it earns its outline.

04The mark of slow weaving

Have it cleaned by a specialist. Loom-woven in Türkiye, hand-finished at the ends. Tencel® pile on a cotton foundation, wool-free. An Oushak medallion drawing read as a silhouette against navy. 200 × 300 cm (6'7" × 9'10"), with two held. Oushak is a weaving district in western Anatolia. The Halıcızade tree of life is the series mark. Lay it over a pale floor; on dark boards the outline is lost. Specialist cleaning. Most Oushak rugs are bought for their softness, and this is the version bought for its shape instead.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
