Tencel yarn

Cellulose-based fibers take dye into themselves rather than carrying it on top. Where it wears, no pale ground appears.

Modern pattern layout

Modern pattern. The ground and the motif are not parts of separate processes but of the same weave; the two advance together. The ground tone is cream, gray, terracotta.

This rug is woven in Türkiye. We write down where it comes from, because we want to be able to name the workshop when someone asks.

The story of this rug

Zima Series Gray Abstract Rug, loom-woven in wool and Tencel® — soft transitions across a gray field, of the kind the first hour of a misty morning has, with warm earth and brick tones surfacing in places.

01How it feels underfoot

Over cotton, at 200 × 300 cm (6'7" × 9'10"), made in Kütahya and in Uşak. Nothing on the surface is drawn as an edge. The gray shifts by degrees and the terracotta arrives inside the gray rather than over it, and that is why the rug settles a room instead of dividing it.

02Which tone on the ground

Terracotta was chosen deliberately, being the tone gray is most at ease beside, and copper and red-earth shades have been moving steadily into interiors for years now. The series takes its idea from Mevlana's lines about flowing onward without muddying or freezing, and the surface is a picture of that rather than an illustration of it. Cotton makes the foundation.

03The Wool on the surface

Tencel® and wool make the surface, the first putting a silky reflection into the gray, the second carrying the weight and the resistance to wear. Weaving is done in Kütahya and in Uşak on looms that tie the knots, with the finishing done by hand — close to the hand of a knotted piece, and honestly described as loom-woven.

04Knot by knot, by hand

The design and the coloring were done in-house, for Halıcızade and nowhere else. Loom-woven in Kütahya and in Uşak, finished by hand. Wool and Tencel® pile on a cotton foundation. Gray field with soft transitions and warm earth and brick passages. Tencel® supplies the sheen; wool supplies the body and the wear. Machine knots, hand finishing — near the hand of a knotted rug, and not one. 200 × 300 cm (6'7" × 9'10") — a sitting room or a large bedroom. Cleaning is a professional job. Gray floors usually disappear; this one keeps a little warmth in reserve for the hours when the light goes.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Recommended: 80×290 · 90×390 · 90×490

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
