Tencel yarn

Lyocell takes up moisture quickly and releases it quickly, which is why it feels cool to the hand. It does not give the warmth wool gives.

The story of this rug

Terracotta Abstract Loom-Woven Wool and Tencel Rug, Zima Series: brick orange gathered into one corner, gray and cream drifting out of the opposite one, and a pale ground between them holding the two blocks apart.

01Which furniture, which room

At 240 × 340 cm — 7'10" by 11'2" — it sits under a dining table with room to push the chairs back. The range covers eleven sizes, the smallest a 90 × 150 cm mat and the largest 300 × 390 cm. The two color masses are placed on a diagonal, so the eye is carried from one end of the rug to the other rather than settling in the middle — which is how a design with no motif in it still manages to have a direction. The composition was drawn after a couplet of Rumi's about moving on without stagnating, and Halıcızade's designers built the series around that idea of passing through one door after another.

02What the yarn is

You do not need to know any of that to see it working: the warm corner pulls, the cool corner releases, and the room gets an axis it did not have. Cotton runs the spine and Tencel® and wool are worked over it. Tencel® puts a fine light on the surface; wool gives it weight and the density you feel through a sock.

03The mark of slow weaving

The looms are at Oushak and Kütahya, and the loom ties every knot while the finishing is done by hand — the surface that comes off is hard to separate from a hand-knotted one by eye. At one edge stands the tree of life that marks a Halıcızade piece. Loom-woven at Oushak and Kütahya: machine knots, hand finishing. Tencel® and wool over a cotton foundation. Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
