Lyocell surface

Tencel is a brand name; the fiber itself is called lyocell and is made from wood cellulose. It gives the surface a shine close to silk.

Authentic pattern

Authentic pattern; the motif is built from the yarn itself, not from dye. It does not rub away as the surface wears. The ground reads orange, terracotta.

The story of this rug

Peacocks, storks and eagles stand in gray and cream among trees that branch across a terracotta ground: this is the Günyolu reading of the Anatolian tree-of-life motif, loom-woven in wool and Tencel® over a cotton foundation in Kütahya and Oushak.

01A question of size

Six sizes are made, the largest of them 240 × 340 cm (7'10" × 11'2"). Each bird keeps to its own corner, so the surface behaves less like a repeat than like a forest seen from above, and the longer it is looked at the more of it there is.

02How it feels underfoot

The two fibers do different jobs and the pattern comes out of the difference: wool is matt and holds the depth of the terracotta, while Tencel® reflects, which lifts the birds and the branch ends off the ground and makes them move as the light moves.

03From the hand of the weaver

Under dark wood, warm textiles and earth-toned upholstery it does what it was drawn to do; in a large dining room it is the reason the floor is worth looking at. Loom-woven means the loom ties the knots in workshops around Kütahya and Oushak and the finishing is human, and the fringes run out at both ends as evidence of it.

04The origin of the pattern

It is worth saying that a rug this densely drawn does not sit quietly — put it in a room of patterned upholstery and one of the two will have to give way. The name comes from a mountain village in Kemaliye, in Erzincan. Loom-woven in Kütahya and Oushak, finished by hand. Wool and Tencel® in the surface, on a cotton foundation. Terracotta ground with trees, branches, leaves, peacocks, storks and eagles in gray and cream. Wool carries the matt depth; Tencel® supplies the shine that lifts the figures. Six sizes from 90 × 190 cm to 240 × 340 cm, including a 90 × 290 cm runner. Each rug carries the Halıcızade tree-of-life figure. Have it washed professionally; the Tencel® takes water differently from wool. It is a rug that wants the rest of the room plain, and it repays that by being the only thing anyone comments on.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Small differences in tone are possible depending on your screen. Open the images full screen to study the surface, and watch the review video where there is one. If you want to be sure, you can see the rug in person at our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
